Michael D. Moore, OD
Dr. Michael Moore has been an Optometric Physician in Olympia since graduating from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1972. He is a member of the American Optometric Association as well as Optometric Physicians of Washington, and he is constantly honing his skills through advanced training.
Dr. Moore has vast experience in solving vision problems for the young and old, and has equipped his clinic with cutting edge instrumentation for the management of eye conditions like glaucoma and cataracts, as well as ocular surface disease and dry eye. Contact lens challenges and eye diseases are thoroughly discussed and managed, and treatment is state-of-the-art. Above all, Dr. Moore specializes in respecting and listening to his patients and working with them toward common solutions. He maintains a strong referral network of proven experts in eye care specialties, and can expedite treatment at these superb clinics if it becomes necessary.
Dr. Moore and his wife Kathy live in Olympia and have two sons, John and Paul. Mike spends his spare time with his family and skiing in the winter, and "always near the water" in the summer.
Dr. Richard Baxter, OD
Dr. Baxter is a native of the Pacific Northwest He was born and raised in Aberdeen, graduating from Weatherwax High School, before going to Walla Walla where he attended and graduated from Whitman College. He did his doctoral training at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, graduating in 1983. He then moved to Olympia and established his practice in September of 1983.
Dr. Baxter enjoys providing primary eye care to patients of all ages. One of the greatest blessings of having been in practice for so many years now is having had the privilege of caring for multiple generations of the same family. Dr. Baxter has a special interest in bifocal contact lenses as well as the medical eye management of glaucoma and diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Baxter has been married to his wife Janet since 1979 and their three children, Stephanie, John and Megan are all married and living here in Olympia They have six grandchildren and they love spending lots of time with their kids and grandkids. They feel very fortunate to have them all so near.
His outside interests include spending time with his family, sports of all kinds, especially tennis, and hiking and mountain climbing. He has done many eye care missions trips over the years and loves being able to use his skills to help those in need. He currently serves as Co-Director of Eye Care Services for the Olympia Union Gospel Mission’s eye clinic. Dr. Baxter is board secretary to the Optometric Physicians of WA and is past-president of the Olympic Optometric Society.
Dr. Sean Woolsey, OD
Dr. Woolsey was born and raised in Arizona. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science with a minor in Chemistry at Northern Arizona University. He then moved to the Pacific Northwest to receive his doctoral training at Pacific University College of Optometry, graduating with distinction in 2017. Part of his training included rotations in specialtycontact lenses in Tucson AZ, primary eye care at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington DC, and ocular disease and co-management in Lake Havasu AZ and Reno NV.
Dr. Woolsey has a special interest in fitting contact lenses and treating ocular disease, as well as providing primary eye care. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Optometric Physicians ofWashington, and the international optometric honor society Beta Sigma Kappa.
Dr. Woolsey married his wonderful wife, Kailyn, in the summer of 2014. In his spare time he enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding, as well as playing sports of all kinds,especially soccer. He enjoys being involved with the Special Olympics to provide vision screenings and eyewear to the athletes.
Genie Gore, LDO
Optician and Optical Manager
Genie Gore has mastered the art of eyewear. After a long career in eye care with duties ranging throughout the clinic, Genie has specialized in her first love; helping patients with the complicated process of choosing eyewear that is pleasing to look at and a pleasure to see through. This involves much more than just "picking a frame". Genie's excellent advice is always available to patients who want their glasses to look good and fit well, and also to be state-of-the-art optically.
Sue Torvik, LDO
Retinal Photography and Special Testing
Like everyone else at Moore Eyecare, Sue is very interested in doing the best for her patients, starting with her initial interviews to document their history and complaints. This information is critical in determining the direction treatment should take. Sue exemplifies our "patient first" ethic of making the process as easy as possible. She is also a skilled Retinal Photographer and administers the special tests for Lasik, cataract surgery, and management of glaucoma and other diseases using our sophisticated instrumentation.
Office Manager and Insurance Specialist
Kati Leja is our office manager, insurance specialist and receptionist, with years of experience in medical office management. Kati is very knowledgeable about the complicated world of health care insurance. Her practice management skills and extensive experience working in the medical field assures our patients of the best possible care in a friendly and helpful climate.
